This Project Management
Toolbook has been written during my time with Africa Leadership Forum in
Nigeria, where I worked as a VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas) Volunteer, from
January 2001 to May, 2002.
I was asked to share my
project management experiences with my colleagues within Africa Leadership
Forum (ALF) and with ALF’s ‘clients’; the participants of ALF’s courses,
trainings and workshops. I felt that a toolbook on Project Management would
have added value to my other activities, like working closely together with my
colleagues on the several programmes that the ALF was conducting, by holding an
in-house workshop on Project Management and by organizing a training workshop
with a specific emphasis on project management for Nigerian leaders. Also, I
felt the need to leave something tangible behind that could be consulted after
my departure, especially, when I noticed the enormous hunger of ALF colleagues
and workshop participants for information, books, and other tools that could
assist them in their work. And from a practical point of view, I gathered so
much information on Project Management that it would be a waste not to
repackage it and make it –hopefully- useful to a broader audience.
