Call for Poster Preasentation

Africa Leadership Forum and Melody for Dialogue among Civilizations Association invite proposals for a poster session as part of the Africa Regional Consultative Forum themed; Water: The Regional Challenge for Our Future …Effective Utilization of Water Resources in Africa.

The conference is holding November 30 – 1 December, 2011 at the Africa Leadership Forum International Conference Centre, 1 Bells Drive, Km 9, Idiroko Road, Benja Village, Ota, Ogun State.

Purpose of the Poster Session: To share information with participants at the Regional Forum about promising practices in the areas of adaptation strategies to climate change challenges, integrated watershed management, water conservation and reuse, as well as enhancing water infrastructure.

Poster Content Requirements: Posters should present an overview of a promising practice or program (ranging from community to policy to research) that has demonstrated potential in addressing any of the aforementioned issues. A particular focus should be on practices that promotes sustainable water and water resources management models and methods.  The poster should include a description of the program or practice, population addressed, process and methods, resources (human, financial, institutional), evaluation and outcomes, and contact information. Photos and other illustrations may be used.

Poster Guidelines: Posters or presentation material must fit onto space A1 papersize. Organizers will provide a poster board to attach your poster materials, a sign with your program’s name, pushpins, tape, and a table for display of handouts.

Participation Fee: Participation in the poster session is free.

Submission: Poster proposals must include the following information:

*Presenter Information: (1) Name (2) Job title (3) Organization/agency (4) Address (5) Phone (6) Email (7) Fax
*Program/Practice Information: (8) Program/practice name (9) Location (10) Population(s) of focus (11) Brief summary of program/practice (up to 200 words) (12) Website for information on program/practice

*Submit poster proposals by November 4, 2011 via Email: ademokun@africaleadership.org

Important Notes:

Poster presenters are expected to stay during the entire session.

  1. Attendees will browse among the posters and speak directly with the presenters.
  2. Several presenters will be given the opportunity to make a 10-minute oral presentation to attendees.
  3. The poster session is intended to be informal, conversational.
  4. Each poster presentation must have an accompanying 1-2 page handout (maximum of 800 words). Handouts must include the following sections:
  5. Program name, affiliated organization/ agency, location
  6. Population(s) of focus
  7. Description of the program (process, methods)
  8. Evaluation and outcomes (i.e., anecdotes, observations, key findings, etc.)
  9. Program resources (human, financial, institutional)
  10. Contact information

ALF will duplicate copies of the 1-2 page hand- outs for distribution at the poster session. Text for the handouts will be due to ALF no later than November 14, 2011.

Review and Notification: Selection will be made by an advisory group comprised of water and water resources management professionals with extensive experience. You will be notified by November 11, 2011 of your acceptance for the poster session.
